Magnus Business Gifts , specialist in personalized, high-quality and creative promotional gifts – received the E-Invoicing Award 2022 this week. A nice reward for the hard work of the past year. The venue for the meeting was the E-Invoicing Conference 2022 in the Brussels BluePoint business center, led by moderators Bart Steukers, Jack Hamande and Pieter Timmermans.

Digitization is the future, or rather the norm today. This is no different for the public sector. And so the Belgian public sector asks its suppliers for electronic instead of paper invoices. Not only a big step forward in terms of time and cost efficiency, but also a big leap towards sustainability.

And that sustainability is precisely an aspect that is close to the heart of Magnus Business Gifts. It is therefore not without pride that they received this Award. A price that, in contrast to the past, no longer only applies to Flanders, but to the whole of Belgium. The monitoring and measurement of customer satisfaction is part of our CSR policy. And it’s not only our customers who are important; all of our stakeholders are equally indispensable to our company. That’s why we mapped them all in a comprehensive stakeholder analysis exercise that now underpins  our strategic short-, medium- and long-term objectives.

Our GDPR procedures and the associated regular checks protect our customers and contacts against the misuse of data and other online threats.

We have also chosen to tailor confidentiality clauses to each customer. The service package we offer is extremely diverse and so are the questions and needs of individual customers. In this way, all of the different aspects of GDPR regulation are discussed as standard and brought under contract, representing an advantage for both parties.

Partnerships

Collaboration is the future and forms a key part of our new business model. It has always been part of our company philosophy, but has been strengthened in recent years and will continue to become increasingly important.

We work as much as possible with local partners. In addition, we have also entered into sustainable partnerships with foreign suppliers. As a sector, it is a fact that we are dependent on supply and demand, but that of course does not mean that we do business with just anyone.

Both participating in the exchange of experience and being an active member of employers’ organizations ensures our knowledge and expertise continues to grow, and also leads to the establishment of collaborative relationships and sustainable partnerships.

  • Our fleet approach: diesel vehicles have been replaced by electric, hybrid and petrol vehicles, depending on their destination and the number of kilometres they travel;
  • We encourage working from home to limit commuting, thereby restricting our CO2 emissions;
  • Our new logistics partner works according to the OOOT principle: One Order, One Tree. So for every delivery, 1 tree is planted by Trees for the Future;
  • Calculating our carbon footprint in order to reduce it in a targeted manner;
  • Including more and more environmentally-friendly and recycled products in our range. Disposable plastic has been replaced by reusable alternatives that do not pollute the oceans or are less polluting;
  • Setting up a bee hotel in wildflower meadows near our new office. We give pots of honey from the beehives to our customers as a corporate gift.
  • Ensuring the correct sorting of waste, both in-house and at our partners’ premises;
  • Integrating environmentally-conscious choices in our building, including a heat pump, solar panels, ventilation, solar shading, extra insulation on top of the mandatory insulation (24 cm instead of 18 cm) and the installation of a water filter system that is directly connected to the water supply.

It was perhaps thanks to COVID that we decided to change direction and thoroughly review our business model. We are moving away from the idea of doing everything in-house and at our own location. 2021 was a challenging year in that regard. For example, the showroom, which had only been visited sporadically by customers in recent years, has now disappeared, replaced by our online catalogue. This is a new, more efficient way of working that delivers clear results. Moreover, the focus within our customer base has also changed. We’re now focusing more on customers who attach importance to solid, sustainable products.

Prosperity or, in other words, wealth. Not only for ourselves, but also for others. We achieve this in a variety of ways:

  • Our employees are paid a salary in accordance with the statutory salary scales (or better) and receive fringe benefits such as hospitalization insurance.
  • We also keep up with the latest developments at board level and in terms of legislation by continuously training as management, including through courses at Guberna.
  • In order to give young people the necessary opportunities, we offer internships every year. These represent important extra human resources, in particular for our communication and administration department.
  • We work together with the activation centre at the psychiatric centre in Tienen and the tailor-made company BWB Londerzeel. This is an ideal way to create opportunities for people who may be struggling to find work.
