We just waved goodbye to Germaine (71 years old). She was our intern for weeks. You read it right. We got the help of a seventy-year-old intern. But just as well, our door is open to our new intern Nisrin, 18 years old.
Germaine was looking for a meaningful daytime activity. She missed working. Meaningful and working, then of course you can at Magnus Business Gifts!
How did you find your internship with us?
Very good. My colleagues were very friendly. The work was interesting and different. I’m sorry the internship is over.
How did you come to us?
Through my school, Crescendo CVO Mechelen. I received several internship proposals. I chose Magnus Business Gifts because I wanted to work in an office again.
Why your interest in learning Dutch at your age through an internship?
I am 71 years old and from Brussels. At school I learned Dutch, but I had not mastered it anymore. I thought it was necessary to speak better Dutch. Especially when I have to read Dutch documents.

We also thought it was a great experience to have Germaine with us. Especially because she was so motivated to learn Dutch. We didn’t want to deprive her of that chance. And that’s what matters to us. To give chances. Employee development is part of corporate social responsibility. We believe in that!

Stagiaires kansen geven is een bewuste keuze
Zopas zwaaiden we Germaine (71 jaar) uit. Zij was wekenlang onze stagiaire. U leest het goed. Wij kregen de hulp van een zeventigjarige stagiaire. Maar net zo goed staat onze deur open voor onze nieuwe stagiaire Nisrin, 18 jaar.
Germaine zocht een zinvolle dagbesteding. Ze miste het om te werken. Zinvol en werken, dan kan uiteraard bij Magnus Business Gifts!
Hoe vond je jouw stage bij ons?
Zeer goed. Mijn collega’s waren heel vriendelijk. Het werk was interessant en verschillend. Ik vind het jammer dat de stage erop zit.
Hoe ben je bij ons terecht gekomen?
Via mijn school, Crescendo CVO Mechelen. Ik kreeg verschillende stagevoorstellen. Ik koos voor Magnus Business Gifts omdat ik terug in een kantoor wilde werken.
Vanwaar jouw interesse om op jouw leeftijd nog Nederlands te gaan leren via een stage?
Ik ben 71 jaar oud en afkomstig van Brussel. Op school leerde ik Nederlands, maar ik had het niet meer onder de knie. Ik vond dat het nodig was om beter Nederlands te spreken. Vooral voor wanneer ik Nederlandse documenten moet lezen.

We vonden het zelf ook een fijne ervaring om Germaine bij ons te hebben. Vooral omdat ze zo gemotiveerd was om Nederlands te leren. Die kans wilden we haar niet ontnemen. En daar gaat het ons om. Om kansen te geven. Ontwikkeling van werknemers maakt deel uit van maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen. Daar geloven we in!
